Waring,
John Preston,
was born on January 31, 1908 in Morven, North Carolina; the youngest of seven children, born to Cornelia Niven Waring and Alex Waring. During his late teens, he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and worshipped at Sandy Ridge Baptist Church in Morven, North Carolina.
When John was a teenager, he was brought to New Jersey by his uncle and aunt, Edward and Mary Robinson, where he worked along with them on the Ben Roberts Farm in Evesham, New Jersey. In New Jersey, he met Mary Roberts Bush whom he married in 1939. Together they reared two children, Arlene Bush Gaines and Tyrone Taylor. Mary died in 1984 and in 1989, he married Elizabeth Mitchell Lipscomb. This marriage lasted until his death.
John was extremely ambitious and labored excessively to achieve his goals. He began his own business by servicing those who needed supplies of fuel oil. This operation became Waring Oil Service from which he retired in 1975. John was a person who tried to use every available moment constructively. He was mild-mannered; not given to uttering disparaging remarks about anyone. He read his bible religiously, never missing a day.
John loved his vegetable garden and toiled arduously from morning to evening, producing some of the cleanest and most delicious green vegetables one could desire.
John is survived by his devoted wife, Elizabeth; two sons, Tyrone (Ernestine) and Hilary; one daughter, Arlene and many grand and great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins.
John loved the Lord and lived his life accordingly.
