Eleanor Green, the daughter of Henry Dempsey Wiggins Jr. and his wife, Louisa Jones Wiggins was born on Sunday, January 17, 1937 in Winfall, North Carolina. She was raised from infancy by her pateranl grandparents until the death of her namesake grandmother. Under her grandmother's watchful eye, Eleanor was converted at an early age and was baptized under the hand of the late William Henry Lemon at the First Baptist Church of Paschal wherein archive annals describe her as the youngest convert the church had known at the time. Following the demise of her grandmother, Eleanor went to live with her aunt (Lillie) along with cousins that she looked up to as brothers and sisters. She was educated in the Philadelphia Public School system and graduated from John Bartram High School in 1954 as the class valedictorian. She later returned to school and earned her Bachelor of Arts in Human Services degree from Antioch University in 1985.
Eleanor married Alphonso Mack Green on November 28, 1964, and toured with him briefly during his career in the United States Air Force. Together they parented two sons (Bryan who preceded her in death and Kenton). She worked as a Problem Adjuster for the Curtis Publishing Company, Pension Plan Administrator for Provident Mutual Insurance Co., Accounting Technician for Philadelphia's WFIL Radio Station, and Secretary/Receptionist for the Control Data Corporation. She also volunteered her time to assist the Parkside Association of Philadelphia conduct fund raising activities that helped the operation of its many social programs.
Eleanor lived in the Dorothea D. Campbell Senior Housing Complex in Willingboro, New Jersey where she was heavily involved in community activities doing whatever she could to help anyone who needed assistance. She was a faithful and devoted member of Macedonia Baptist Church, Beverly, New Jersey for many years. She leaves behind: a loving son, Kenton and daughter-in-law, Valerie; three grandchildren, Richard, Rahmell, and Makiah; one brother, Henry; a step-brother, Lowell; four nieces, Robin, Doris, Cheryl, and Carmel; two nephews, Trevor and Callen; two grand-nieces, Andrea and Jasmine; one great-grand nephew, Elijah and many cousins, distant relatives and friends.
