Obituary of Oscar L Lawson

Lawson, Oscar L. Jr., was born on October 11, 1948 to the late Oscar L. Lawson Sr. and Mrs. Gloria Lawson in Newark, New Jersey. After completing high school, Oscar entered the US Marine Corp where he completed his duty of service. During his military service, Oscar fought as a proud member in the Vietnam War where he was wounded and received an honorable discharge. Oscar began his working career in the family business and later as a long distance truck driver until his health no longer enabled him to take these adventures. Oscar met his wife, Geneva in 2001, and they married on January 18, 2002. Oscar and Geneva resided in Willingboro, New Jersey where he loved the beauty of nature and the outdoors, cooking and having fun with family and friends. Oscar attended church at the Holy Ghost Headquarters Revival Center at The Met. On May 17, 2009, he was publicly ordained and set apart to the work of deaconship with prayers and the laying-on of hands. Oscar played football in high school as a quarterback and his love for the sport made him an advent fan. Oscar would cheer and argue for his favorite team, the Pittsburgh Steelers, with everyone who would listened! Oscar leaves to mourn: his wife, Geneva Lawson; two sons, Talvis and Aaron; his mother, Mrs. Gloria Lawson; two sisters, Dorothea and Debbie; three brothers, Leon, Eugene and Tyson; sisters-in-law, Sadie, Barbara, Lois, Genetta and Linda; four brothers-in-law, Leon and Ernest; two uncles; two aunts and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other family members and friends. Oscar also leaves to mourn his church family, Holy Ghost Headquarters Revival Center. Services will be held 9:00am Saturday, September 11, 2010, at The Holy Ghost Headquarters Revival Center, 858 N. Broad Street, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where friends may call from 8am. Burial in Lakeview Memorial Park, Cinnaminson, New Jersey.
