Obituary of Elwood A. Dickerson, Sr.

Elwood A. Dickerson, Sr. was the son of the late Ambrose and Martha Pandora Dickerson. He  was born on August 28, 1946, in Cinnaminson, New Jersey and departed this life on Thursday, August 5, 2010.

Elwood attended Edgewood Regional High School. He had served our country during the Vietnam Era with the United States Army, where he received an honorable discharge. Also, he was a member of the former West Atco Volunteer Fire Department, station #252.

Elwood was employed at Mrs. Paul's for many years before they closed their doors. He was later employed at Campbell Soup for some years. He was most recently employed at Brendenwood Senior Living, Voorhees for almost 13 years before he became ill.

Elwood was quiet, soft-spoken and had a great sense of humor. He loved to laugh. He was lovingly called "Woody" by some of his friends. He will be missed.

Elwood married Diane Hamilton on August 27, 1994.

He was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers, Ambrose, David, Charles, Daniel and Paris Dickerson.

Elwood leaves to mourn his passing; his wife, Diane; his children, Elwood A. Dickerson, Jr. (Tina), Daniel Dickerson (Erica) and DePonica Sloan (Michael); his step-children, Yakoob Hamilton, Saleem Hamilton, Saeed Hamilton, Isaiah Hamilton III and Diane Hamilton; five brothers, William Dickerson (Dixie), Samuel Dickerson (Amy), Myrtle Dickerson, Merrill Dickerson and Nathaniel Adams; one sister, Edith Randolph; nineteen grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; also, four sisters-in-law, Rose and Augustine Dickerson, Sadie James (Rick) and Veronica Smith (Willie); one brother-in-law, John Hamilton and a host of other family members and friends.
