Obituary of Charles E. Moore, Sr.

Moore, Sr. Charles Edward, was born in Abbeville, SC. At an early age, his family moved to Philadelphia, PA where he attended the Philadelphia school system and graduated from Northeast High School. After graduating, he enlisted in the U.S. Army. He served during the Korean Conflict and received an Honorable Discharge. Charles earned both his Bachelor's of Science and Master's Degree in Education from Cheney State University. He was employed by the Philadelphia school system as a teacher at the Sulzberger Middle School. Also, he was employed by the United States Postal Service. He retired from both jobs in 1987. Charles loved all facets of sports. The Philadelphia Eagles and the Phillies were his favorite teams. He was an avid tennis player. In his later his later years, he took up golfing and bowling. He was on a bowling league at the Cross Keys Bowling Lane in Turnersville, NJ. Charles was an active member of St. John's United Methodist Church of West Berlin, NJ, where he served on the usher's board and was an active member of the Fisher's of Men. In addition, he was a lifetime member of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity. His family and friends were important to him. Charles and his loving wife, Linda, loved traveling on vacations throughout the year. Charles touched the lives of so many people with his smile and generosity, and maintained his trademark sense of humor all the way to the end. Our Lord and Personal Savior called Charles E. Moore, Sr. home on March 9, 2010. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife, Linda Moore; children: his daughter, Kathy (Robert) Krawczak and his son, Charles (Dawn) Moore Jr.; Wanda Payne, Arnold Payne and Sonya (Donald) Troublefield; sisters and brothers, Bertha Wardlow, Odella Moore, Deborah Palmore and Eddie Moore, Sr.; grandchildren, Alexander, Dana, Christopher, Briana, Nadine, Joshua, Kaylyn and Jasmyn and a host of nephews, nieces other relatives and friends. Services will be held 11am Thursday, March 18, 2010, at St. John's United Methodist Church, 409 Fairview Avenue, West Berlin, where friends may call from 9am. Burial 11am Friday, March 19, 2010, in Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown, NJ.
