Irella Mattie Johnson Williams was born the only child of the late Ralph Lamar Johnson and Margaret Curry in Warrenton, Georgia on August 16, 1928.

Mattie was educated in the Warrenton County School System and graduated from Warrenton High School.

Leaving Georgia at the age of 25 years of age, Mattie moved to Philadelphia, PA and married Oscar Williams, Sr.

Mrs. Williams, Ms. Granny, Granny or Mom, would often be seen walking Sicklerville Road. Folks would stop to offer her a ride, she would refuse saying, "I'm not walking cause I have to, I'm walking cause I want to."

She was preceded in death by her husband, her youngest son Martin L. Williams and her grandson, Pierce L. Johnson-Mozee.

Mattie enjoyed fishing, gardening and family cookouts.

Mattie leaves to mourn five sons, Ralph (Carol), Ronald, Michael, Oscar Jr. and Charles (Coretta); one daughter, Diane (Drenon); one step-son, Charles (Jane Sims); one step-daughter, Sandra Mosley; nineteen grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and at least twenty adopted sons and daughters and her special "cousin/brother", James Wiley.
