Obituary of Phyllis Elaine Reed

Please share a memory of Phyllis to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Phyllis Elaine Reed was born August 17, 1943 in Mount Holly, NJ. She was the oldest of three children born to Mary Alice (Williams) Reed-Hooper and the late Mark Reed. She was preceded in death by her sister, Sandra. Phyllis was educated in the Cinnaminson School System and graduated from Palmyra High School in 1962. After graduation, Phyllis was employed for a short time at the Century Mills Hosiery Company in Riverside, NJ. She later joined her sister, Sandra at Dunn & Bradstreet as a customer service representative. However, years later she found a position with Koen Publishing Company Surrounded by her favorite love, "books". Phyllis loved to read and could have started her own library with all the books she purchased over the years. Phyllis was a dedicated member of Saint Paul Baptist Church, Cinnaminson, NJ for over 57 years. She served on the Junior Usher Board; sang with the Junior Choir and the Sanctuary Choir. She was a member of the Marvelettes, a travel group affiliated with Saint Paul Baptist Church. Phyllis was also a charter member of Club Ebonettes, one of the clubs which makes up the New Jersey State Federation of Colored Women's Clubs, Inc. & Youth Clubs. An avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Phyllis proudly wore the team colors whether they were winning or losing. Family and friends never had to guess what to give Phyllis for a gift; she loved collecting mice figurines and her collection was overwhelming. One of her greatest joys in life was getting her driver's license late in life. Once she became an experienced driver there was no stopping her. She would travel up and down New Jersey and Pennsylvania highways like a long distance truck driver. Phyllis leaves to cherish her memories, her mother Mary Alice Hooper; her brother Michael William Reed, her aunt Gloria Williams; her extended family, James Butler, Barbara Fussell-Cobb, Sandra Givens and Lillian Stafford who assisted during her illness, a goddaughter Kim and a host of cousins and loving friends.
