Mrs. Kim E. Stephens, daughter of the late Lillian Griffin was born November 27, 1958, in Wilmington, Delaware. She attended school in New York and Philadelphia; however, she completed her high school education at Gloucester County College. At an early age, she loved spending time with family and friends in New York, Pennsylvania, and Delaware.
In 1978, Kim met Troy Stephens at an old school dance in Camden, New Jersey. She introduced herself with a clever line: “I’m Kim and I’m tough as nails”. He persisted and married on July 5, 1979. Kim joined Troy as he served in the US Navy and traveled the east coast. In 1981, they returned to New Jersey where they served as key contributors to TLCS incorporated. This union was blessed with four daughters: Melanie, Melissa, Mariah, and Moneta.
Kim retired from Ancora Psychiatric Hospital in Hammonton, New Jersey after 20 plus years of service. At work she was affectionately called “Momma Kim” amongst the patients because she regularly looked out for others. She was described by co-workers as funny and loving and devoted to her family.
Kim loved the Lord! She would help lead others to Christ, including her beloved husband, Troy. She loved to bake, read, crochet, can and create. She served in ministry for many years including feeding the homeless from her own car and helping with the youth bus.
Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her husband, Troy Stephens, Her daughters Melanie Banks (Justin Banks, son in law), Melissa Stephens, Mariah Stephens, and Moneta Stephens. Her beloved grands Christian Banks, Caleb Banks, Chrissette Banks, Braelyn Stephens, and one grandchild on the way. She leaves a host of cousins, co-workers and friends that will miss her dearly.
Sorrowfully submitted,
The Family
