Obituary of Malisa Dell Caraballo

Please share a memory of Malisa to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Malisa Dell Caraballo, affectionately known as "Nana", was born April 29, 1934, in Buffalo Junction, Virginia. She was the daughter of the late Frank and Alnora Owens. She fell asleep in death peacefully, on Wednesday, November 14, 2012, at 11:35 pm. Malisa loved living on a farm and loved Virginia. She attended Hampton Institute School for the Deaf along with her best friend, her sister Mollie. She was so close to her sister, that many called them the "deaf twins". Her brother Harrison was very protective of them both. She loved going to school and loved learning, however, after the death of her father, her mother moved the family to West Atco, New Jersey. Malisa was a dedicated mother and grandmother. She NEVER, EVER, let her disability slow her down. Her children would say she was not afraid of anything and she never cried. The word"Handicapped" was not in her vocabulary. She loved gardening and quilting, even music and movies. With the help of some loyal deaf friends, she learned about God and that he had a name. Her favorite Scripture was Psalms 83:18, where is says that His name is Jehovah. She learned that one day she would never be sick again and will be able to hear and speak. With that wisdom she dedicated her life to serving Jehovah in 1976. She remained a faithful servant and even when her health deteriorated, she continued her ministry while living at Riverview Estates, in Riverton, New Jersey. Malisa's sister Mollie Doughty and brother Harrison Owens, preceded her in death. Malisa is survived by her four children, Esther Gordon (George) of Cinnaminson, NJ, Alnora Caraballo of Lindenwold, NJ, James Caraballo (Terry) of Sellersville, Pa, and Juan Caraballo, Jr., of Trumbauersville, Pa.; brother-in-law Robert Doughty, 10 grand children and seven great grand children and a very special and dedicated family friend, Ms. Jenine Thompson of Voorhees, NJ. Only time will fill the void that we are experiencing today for she was our "Mommy and Nana".
