Gurtis gave her life to the Lord in the late '70s and never looked back. She became a member of Temple of Refuge Baptist Church, where she was in the choir and assisted collecting cloths for those in need. Later she became a member of St. Timothy Lutheran Church, where she made new and lasting friendships, and continued her walk with the Lord.

Gurtis enjoyed life. She loved going on car rides and going out to restaurants. Her favorite was Cracker Barrel. She loved watching Tv, TMZ in the afternoon, Food Network, and a good Hallmark movie were some of her favorite's. She loved her family. She was always encouraging them to come with her to church and give their life to the Lord.

Gurtis had one daughter and two grandsons, and she boasted about them to everyone she met. She loved attending her grandson's basketball games, graduations, and every major event in their lives.

Gurtis leaves to Cherish her memory her loving and devoted daughter Elisa: two grandsons, Shamar and Joshua; three brothers, Abraham (Denise), Leon, and David; one sister-in-law, Rita Davis; and a host of nieces, Nephews, family and friends.

Gurtis will be truly missed.
