Obituary of Edward M. Taylor Sr.

Edward M. Taylor was born March 16, 1943, in Hillsboro, Delaware to Marie and Shelton Taylor, who preceded him in death. Edward received his education at Jason High School in Georgetown, Delaware. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Health and Physical Education from Delaware State College in Dover, Delaware, and a Master's Degree in Student Personnel Services/Psychology from Rowan University. Edward served in the Army from 1966 through 1968 as a Physical Training Specialist. Edward Taylor was inducted into the Delaware State University Baseball Hall of Fame. He received the Citizen of the Year Award, June 1991, from Lawnside Lions Club. Ed was a member of the Grace Temple family, Lawnside, NJ. Edward started his career as a Health & Physical Ed teacher at Deptford High in Deptford, NJ. He served as a consultant to the Juvenile Resource Center in Camden, NJ for 4 years. Edward served as a Psychologist/Counselor for the Granville Charter School in Trenton, NJ for 4 years. Edward was a member of the Juvenile Justice Commission in Trenton for 20 years. Edward was a Trustee, Drug Counselor, and Psychologist for the Department of Corrections in Trenton, NJ for 4 and half years. Edward retired from the Camden Board of Education where he served as a Director of Special Education in 1999. Member of MWPHGL of NJ, R.W. Edward M. Taylor served as the Scholarship Chairman for many years. P.M. Edward was a member of Hiram Lodge #5 of Lawnside, NJ; member of the DeHugo Consistory #2 of Camden, NJ. G.I.G. Edward M. Taylor 33 (degree) member of Zamora Temple #73 of Camden, NJ; P.P. Edward M. Taylor was also a member of Jeptha Chapter #14 and a Royal Arch Mason. Edward Taylor married the love of his life, Margaret A. Howard on June 28, 1969, of which the union produced 2 wonderful children. Ed was a very kind and generous person. He tried to help everyone he could, especially the Veterans. Edward was preceded in death by his parents Marie and Shelton Taylor; sisters Audrey Taylor and Blanche Beckett and a brother Shelton Taylor Jr. Edward is survived by his wife Margaret Taylor of 53 years; sons Edward M. Taylor II (Amy) and Marcus S. Taylor (Kris) and 5 grandchildren - Marcus Taylor Jr., Drew Taylor, Edward Taylor III, Aleah Taylor and Neve Taylor. His beloved brother Mervin (Herles) Taylor and sister Jean Parson, a Godson, Wayne Parker, Jr., and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
