Obituary of Garland N. Pratt I

Born in Camden NJ October 10, 1945. Early education through the Palmyra NJ School system and later attended Cheyney State College where he was initiated into the Delta Pi Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated on March 15,1968. With wife June they were avid bowlers and awarded Laurel Lane's 2000 League Runner Up, Gardy served as Commissioner of the South Jersey Softball Association for over 20 years. Retired as an award winning Chef with Host Marriott with over 42 years of service and also gained recognition as top grossing rest stop of the James Cooper Plaza on the NJ Jersey Turnpike. Gardy leaves behind to cherish his memory: Wife June Lanier-Pratt, children Deedra L. DePalma (Salvatore “Sal” DePalma), Garland “Neal” Pratt II, Cheryl “Cherie” Lanier (Reginald “Reggie” Hudson), Gary N. Cortez, and Nina Pratt. Sisters In Law Joan Prescott and Jane Pratt, Brother In Law Michael “Anthony” Lanier, Nieces and Nephews Cheryl S. Prescott, Warren K. Prescott, Craig L. Prescott, Valerie L. Prescott, Lionel M. Prescott (Mary Sue Prescott), LaWanda M. Prescott, Dawn Pratt, Dawson F. Pratt Jr, Daniel Pratt (Gwendolyn Pratt), Dana L. Butler and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. Gardy was preceded in death by his Parents Leonard D. and Helen E. Pratt, father and mother in law Herman R. and Ethel R. Lanier, brother Dawson F. Pratt Sr.; sister Marjorie J. Brown; brothers in law Herman “Ronald” , Edwin “Eddie” , and Donald “Michael” Lanier, nephew Kevin D. Prescott and niece Dina L. Pratt.
