was born on August 21, 1915 in Millington, Maryland to the late Charles and Mary Lake.



Pearl attended public elementary school in Delair, New Jersey. She graduated from camden High School. She later attended Apex School of Beauty Culture in Pennsylvania. Pearl married Frederick Bowe. They had one daughter, Edith.



Pearl opened her own Beauty Salon on Parrish Street in Philadelphia. She worked there diligently for 35 years. After retiring, she moved to Delair, New Jersey and joined the First Baptist Church. She was ordained as a Deaconess on November 18, 1984 by the late Pastor Harry S. Collins. She also served on the Trustee Board, the Planning Board and the Missionary Board. She was well known as "mom Bowe", the Mother of the First Baptist Church.



On Tuesday, June 26, 2012, at her home, God called her home. She leaves to cherish her precious memories: one daughter, Edith Shadlow; one granddaughter, Debora Shadlow; one great grandson, Milan Frederick Dobbs; one godson, John B. Parnell; one aunt, Corrine Wood; also nieces, nephews, cousins, church family and a host of friends.
