Obituary of Patricia Loretta Collins

Our beloved Patricia Loretta Collins peacefully departed this life on Thursday, April 7, 2022. Patty (as she was known by friends and family) was born in Bridgeport Connecticut on August 8, 1960, the second of five children of Florence Payne Roberts and raised in Camden, NJ. A graduate of the Camden City school system, Patricia believed in the value of education; so that belief coupled with her love of reading led her to pursue a career in nursing. She began her career as an LPN in 1993, then furthered her education by becoming an RN in 2002 at the Helene Fuld School of Nursing (Blackwood, NJ) and finally graduating from Drexel University in 2015; where she earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing. Honing her skills as a nurse through varied work history; Patty worked as a nurse at Cooper Hospital as a Cardiac nurse, in long-term care, corrections, and psychiatric facilities. Her latest position was as the Assistant Director of Nursing. Patricia gave her life to the Lord and spent much of her adult Christian life as a member of Voice of Deliverance New Covenant Church and most recently attended Love Oasis Ministries in Vineland New Jersey. She is preceded in death by her sister Diane Layne Collins. Patty’s funny sense of humor, infectious laugh, and quick responses will be sincerely missed. She is survived by her mother Florence, children, and grandchildren; Dawn Collins (DahShelle Robertson, Dashir Robertson, Alinah Collins, Cameron Ali-Collins), Rosalind Coleman (Sumaiyah Coleman, Major Bussey), Leonard Hicks (Saniy, Tyshawn, Tymir) and Sabrina Hicks (Kenneth, Erik, Journey) [Bonus children: Samantha Vadell, Niambi Waller, Leonard Turlington, Alice Hicks] Siblings: Wilhelmina Collins, Philip Roberts & M. Roberts. [Besties: Jill Dunlap, Allison Still, Cheryl Harris, LaShonda Gibson] and a host of special friends and family members.
