Ida Mae White (nee Wilson), 88, of Atlantic City, went home peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior in the comfort of her daughter’s home, surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, January 12, 2022. Ida was born on April 12, 1933 in Russellville, South Carolina, to the late Hayward and Corien Rembert Wilson. She was the eldest of five siblings. Ida married Vanester White, and later welcomed two children: Gilbert and Vanessa. Ida was employed for many years as a seamstress at Kravitz Sewing Factory and then as a gold-line installer for Lenox China, where she later retired. She was a faithful member of Union Baptist Temple of Atlantic City. She enjoyed sitting on her porch, gardening,cooking, baking, and spending time with family. Ida was preceded in death by her parents, Heyward and Corein Wilson; sister, Ruth Smalls; brother-in-law, Isiah McClary; and nephew, Leon Mack. Ida leaves to cherish her fondest memories: a loving and devoted husband of over 60 years, Vanester White of Atlantic City, New Jersey; two children, Gilbert White of Atlantic CIty, New Jersey and Vanessa (Ronald) Roberts of Galloway, New Jersey; three sisters, Eunice Vernell Mack of St. Stephens, South Carolina, Johnnie Mae McClary of Goose Creek, South Carolina, and Lillian Wilison of Absecon, New Jersey; brother-in-law, Hubert Roland (Dayatra) White, Sr. of Greenville,South Carolina and sister in law, Rolanda White McElveen of Redondo Beach, California; and four grandchildren, Brandon White, Ciera McAllister, Nafis White, and Kobe Allen. Ida will be missed by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Covington Funeral Home of Atco, New Jersey, and Scott’s Mortuary, Inc. of Moncks Corner, South Carolina.
