Very quietly, our Heavenly Father, in his infinite wisdom, gently closed the eyes of our beloved Albert Johnnie Holmes and called him to eternal rest on March 30, 2012. Albert Holmes was born March 21, 1929 in Philadelphia, PA to the late William Holmes and Floreta Watson Holmes.

Albert was educated in Cedarbrook, NJ and graduated from Lower Camden County Regional High School in Lindenwold, NJ. In 1949, Albert was employed at the Pine Valley Golf Club.

In 1951 he was drafted into the Army, where he rose to the rank of Corporal and served in Korea. In 1953 he was honorably discharged, and returned to work at Pine Valley until 1961.

In September 1956 he married childhood sweetheart, Joan Lancaster. The couple resided in Camden, NJ and Albert went into construction work until his retirement in 1983.

In 1965, the couple moved to Sicklerville, NJ, where they remained, raising one son, Anthony Dwayne Holmes. Albert Holmes accepted Christ as his personal Savior and worshipped at Christ Care Unit Missionary Baptist Church in Sicklerville, NJ where he became a member in 1989. There he was active in the Men's Ministry, worked in the kitchen, and participated in many church activities. Albert was affectionately called 'Supervisor' because he was always on site during church construction and renovation, offering his 'advice.'

Albert enjoyed family gatherings, good food, and sporting events. Known for his quick wit, sense of humor and willingness to lend a helping hand, Albert was loved by all those who enjoyed the pleasure of his company.

Albert leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 55 years, Joan Lancaster Holmes; son, Anthony (Christy) of Glassboro, NJ; brother, Harold (Pearl) of Medford, NJ; grandchildren Anthony, Jr. and Ashley of Waterbury, CT., and Nia Faison of Glassboro; and a host of loving nieces, nephews and friends.
