Obituary of Verneda A. Nelson

Verneda A. Nelson, daughter of the late Arthur E. and Annette M. Bibby, was born in Atlantic City, New Jersey on January 7, 1933, and departed this life on Tuesday, November 2, 2021. She was the second daughter and 3rd child of the 5 children in the family of 3 girls & 2 boys. Verna, as her family and friends called her, attended the Egg Harbor Township schools and graduated from Pleasantville High School. Verneda married James A. Nelson of Atlantic City, New Jersey. They were residents of this community ever since. For several years, she worked for the Atlantic City Public School System as a Secretary. Verneda was a member of the Venice Park United Methodist Church, where she served as an usher until her illness. She loved life and devoted her time to making family & friends happy. She also enjoyed being on the Bowling team, working crossword puzzles, gardening, cooking, and sewing. Most of all, Verneda & her husband, Jimmy loved to travel and explore places across the country and visit with various family members and friends. On several occasions, Verna would like to capture many precious moments through photography. She was especially known for snapping pictures of loved ones everywhere she went. Then she would mail the pictures to them. Verneda is predeceased by: her husband, James A Nelson; her parents, Arthur E. & Annette M.; her brothers, Earl Bibby and Billy Bibby; and her sisters, Delores Artis and Izora Bibby Scott. Here to cherish Verna's memory: sister-in-law, Ethel Bibby; her nieces, Verna Artis, and Gwen Bibby (Cortez), Linda Brewington, Bridget Brewington, and Jazlyn Wiles (Devon); nephews, Donald Bibby (Shawn), Wardell Johnson, and Damon Bibby; and a host of other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Also to cherish her memory are Caretakers; Dermie Smith, Eloise McComick, and Maria Holmes.
