Velma E. Council, of Williamstown and formerly of Chesilhurst, the daughter of the late Lena and Guy Hughes was born in Cambridge, Maryland on December 30, 1921. She departed this life on August 25, 2011 after a very long illness at the age of 89.
In 1942, Velma married Loddie Council and they were married for over forty three years.
Velma worked at the Defense Supply Agency for over 32 years in Philadelphia, PA. She was a dedicated member of Christ Care Unit Missionary Baptist Church and she loved working with members in the kitchen ministry.
Velma was an outgoing and loving person. She leaves to cherish her memory: two sisters, Yvonne Williams and Gloria Young; two nieces, Kim Philips and Pamela Gillard; her grandson, Andre Jones; great-nephews, Paul Naylor and Kyra Naylor and a host of nieces, nephews, great-grandchildren and friends.
