Please share a memory of Linda to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Linda Marie Jones was born to the late Deacon Wilbert L. Jones Sr. and Mother Marcella Jones, of Atco, NJ on March 29,1954. She attended Atco Elementary School and continued through to Edgewood Junior and Senior High where she graduated in 1972. While in school she played tennis, developed a love for photography, and became proficient in typing. She pursued a career in Business and attended Camden County College and earned an Associate’s of Science and obtained a bachelor’s in Business Administration from University of Penn Wharton Business School. Linda built an extraordinarily strong work ethic which started at an early age working in the blueberry field with her Grandmom, Cora Jones, and her other siblings. Linda worked for National Data Corporation for a time before landing her dream job, working for Sun Oil Company in Philadelphia, PA for 25 years as the Administrative Assistant. After the closure of Sun Oil in 1998, she found employment with the Amdocs Corporation as the Senior Executive Assistant and IT Support where she worked for 24 years until her transition. Linda was very enthusiastic about her work, she spoke highly of her colleagues and her supervisor, Dave. In her leisure, Linda enjoyed traveling aboard to Europe and to other foreign countries and continued her love for photography. Her walk with the Lord began at First Baptist Church in Florence, NJ under the pastoral leadership of the Late Reverend Arthur P. Myers. After receiving her spiritual foundation, she accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and became a member of the Mount Carmel Holy Church where the Late Bishop William E. Payne was the Pastor. Through the wisdom and guidance of her Aunt Carmeta who was very influential in her spiritual journey, Linda’s walk with the Lord impacted her parents and siblings to receive Christ as their personal Savior. In the Late 1990’s, she became a member of United Evangelistic Church under the pastoral leadership of the late Bishop Charles E. Williams now pastored by Elder Margie B. Geathers. Linda’s service for the Lord included Sunday School Teacher, Director of Arts and Craft for Vacation Bible School. She also sang on the United Evangelistic Church Mass Choir. She will be remembered for leading the choir in songs such as Jesus is His Name; He Cares and Press Towards the Mark. Linda also served faithfully in the culinary ministry. Linda enjoyed being with her family and hosting games where she gave us eccentric gift as prizes. She peacefully transitioned on July 8, 2023. We will miss her dearly, but we know she is with the Lord, which is a far better place. She is survived by her brother Wilbert Jr (Karen), Raymond Sr (Julie), Denise Harrington (Daniel), Kenny Thompson (Nikki), a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, church family and her beloved colleagues from Amdocs Corporation.
