Obituary of Tyrone A. Furlow

Please share a memory of Tyrone to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Tyrone Allen Furlow Sr. was born November 27, 1953, to the late George and Virginia Furlow. He was the first of seven children. Tyrone grew up in East Berlin, NJ where he attended Berlin Twp School System. He graduated from Edgewood Regional High School in Atco NJ. Tyrone played football and was an outstanding wrestler. He met his high school sweetheart Valerie Amos in tenth grade. After high school Tyrone was employed at Owens Corning Fiberglass until he joined the US Navy in 1974. During his military service he married Valerie the love of his life on January 1,1977. Every New Years Eve Tyrone would come to church at 11:50 pm with flowers in hand to bring in the new year with Val and celebrate their anniversary together. After being honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy in 1978 he worked at the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard until 2017 when he became disabled & lost his leg. Tyrone was a family man and under that stern appearance he put on, he loved the times he spent with his children, including his two bonus daughters Tellie and Iris. We often called Tyrone and Tyesha twins. When CiCi came over the two of them would play, fuss, laugh, and play some more. He loved the family cookouts, the Berlin softball games and skating, just to name a few. He was a member of the American Legion Post 357 and loved the times he spent at the post. Making memories in Wildwood each year at the American Legion convention and all various activities they had. Tyrone loved the seven-day cruise he and Valerie took visiting the seven islands off Puerto Rico. It was there, everyone thought he was George Foreman and some asked for his autograph. He loved and cherished being in Hawaii with Valerie for two months. Tyrone also enjoyed watching the Green Grove Church services; each Sunday at 10am he stopped whatever he was doing and tuned in online. He leaves to cherish his wife Valerie, Daughters: Keysha and Tyesha, son Tyrone (Tee), Grandchildren: Paige, Shameera, Taije, Kehlani, Tyanna, Tyrius. Great grands: Cienna, Kaidence, and Wayne. Tyrone had 6 siblings Alvina, Jocelyn (Avery), Angela. 2 proceeded him in death Wanda & Rhonda; and George who passed away the next day. Brother-in-law Loren Amos (Phyllis). Aunts Ida Mae Pointer (Gerald), Della Woods, Peachie Woods, Iraida Trinidad. Uncles Elisha and Curtis Woods and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. A best friend from childhood Larry Venable who came home on leave from the service to attend Tyrone & Valerie’s wedding, his longtime friends and coworkers Ronnie Blunt, George Parham, Charlie Rink and Henry Brew. Tyrone truly enjoyed each time anyone would stop by to see him or call, you will never know how much that lifted him up.
