Obituary of Theodore Rose
Please share a memory of Theodore to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
On Saturday, December 12, 2020 the Lord called our Angel, Theodore Rose, home to be with him.
Theodore, affectionately known as Ted, was born on October 19, 1939 to the late Lillie Mae and James Rose in Sumter, South Carolina. He was their only child.
Ted grew up in South Carolina where he attended elementary and high school. Upon graduating high school, he attended Benedict College in Columbia, South Carolina where he received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Social Science in 1963. He then went on to obtain his Masters of Education from The College of New Jersey (formerly Trenton State College) in 1978. He always stayed current in his field of education by completing continuing education classes.
Upon graduating from Benedict College, Ted worked a variety of jobs before finding his ideal job working in Probation. In 1973 he worked as a Probation Officer for the US District Court, Southern District of New York for 23 years, at which time he then retired. Ted was not completely ready for retirement, so in 1977 he started his second career as a Special Investigator for the Federal Bureau of Investigations until 2003.
During his career he received many outstanding awards for his community service.
Ted was predeceased by his first wife Hidegrade B. Rose and to this union two children were born, Terri and Jeffrey.
His hobbies included listening to jazz, traveling, shopping for bargains, and finding restaurants that had the best seafood. Ted enjoyed being around his friends and family for barbecues and social gatherings. Football season was always a favorite in the household. Multiple family members were fans of “winning teams”. Ted however, was a steadfast, devoted, dedicated, die hard New York Jets fan and he was often ridiculed for his favorite team.
Ted was a long time and devoted parishioner of Christ the King Episcopal Church in Willingboro, NJ. He served as Vice President of the MOCTK - Men of Christ the King.
Ted married Louise in 1988 and they were devoted to each other until her passing in 2019. Ted will be forever remembered by his daughter Terri N. Rose, son Jeffrey W. Rose, Grandsons Keivonn A. Rose, Nadir Hassan Rose, and Jorian Rose Smith, Granddaughters Moyoi Jaden Rose Malone and Honesty Love Rose, Stepchildren, Debra Adkins (Glenn, deceased),Tyrone Taylor (Celeste, deceased), Andrea Nixon (Randy), Larthett Gaines (Jacquelyn), Lawrence Gaines (Melissa), and a host of family members and friends. He was predeceased by his Stepdaughter Amy Morgan and his Granddaughter Najah Hildegrade Rose.
