John Douglas Bynum, Originally of Philadelphia, PA, passed away at his home in Berlin, NJ with family on Friday, May 15, 2020 at the age of 72. He was born on January 23, 1948 to Thelma Bynum & John McCall. John attended Catholic School in Philadelphia, PA before moving with his family to New Jersey. He attended Edgewood High School and earned an athletic scholarship upon graduation. Unfortunately, he could not accept after being drafted by the US Army. As a Specialist Four, John warned The Air Medal for participating in more than 25 aerial missions over hostile territory; The 1st Oak Leaf Cluster Army Commendation Medal; and The Purple Heart for wounds received by a hostile force. After his honorable discharge, John began working at The Navy Yard before retiring from Waste Management in 2012. He had a love for dogs, riding motorcycles, and travelling. He enjoyed spending time with his wife, Paulette & mother Thelma outside in the yard, taking a trip or having dinner. John was preceded in death by his mother: Thelma, sister: Selma and stepson: Raishe. Here today to celebrate his memories are his Wife and Best Friend Paulette Bynum of 42 years; his Children: Adreienne Gass, Erika White, Rodney Bynum and Nicole Bynum; Stepsons: Kizicke Murray and Daniel Murray; Goddaughter: Kaile' Wright; Grandchildren: Kiara, Jaa'Leah, Phylicia and Ahmad White, Gregory, Tai Simone Gass and Kaliya Drake and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends.
