Kenneth Gilbert Scott Sr., born January 27, 1964 to David and Mavoureen Scott in Washington D.C., entered into his eternal rest on Friday, December 26, 2025 surrounded by his family.
Attending public schools in the Georgetown area of Washington D.C., Kenneth was very athletic. His favorite sport to play was basketball, and he earned a black belt in karate. He was a member of Full Gospel Church in Maryland and accepted Jesus as his personal savior in his late teens.
In 1983, he attended Lincoln University and met the love of his life Fay. He would often retell this story over and over to anyone who would listen. They wed on February 16, 1985 and were blessed with three beautiful children: Kenneth Jr., Kevin and Kia. As his children grew up, you would find Kenneth at football games and track meets cheering them on! He made sure they always knew he was there with his famous whistle. He was so proud of them, and he was especially proud that all of his children graduated from college.
Kenneth had a heart for God and people. In the late 1980s, he felt God calling him into ministry and in 1989, he preached his first sermon. He was ordained and graduated in 1995 with a BA in Theology from Jameson School of Ministry in Philadelphia, PA. While waiting for God to release him to launch his ministry, he faithfully served as a Sunday School teacher, a youth pastor, on
the ministerial staff, on the choir and on evangelism teams. If a drum set was open during service, he would even get on the drums to play! Any opportunity he had to serve or share the good news, he took it with great excitement! In March 2002, after seeking a spiritual covering under the leadership of Pastor Anthony and Minister Donna Harley, founders of the Lighthouse Church of
Deliverance, Lindenwold, NJ, Kenneth became Bishop Harley’s first spiritual son.
Pastor Kenneth Scott began hosting Bible study in his home with his wife and children. Together they founded and pastored Victorious Faith Christian Center for 17 years. His simplistic sermons and stories impacted lives all around! He would often share in his sermons that “wise men follow the star.” Go Cowboys!
Above all, his faith in God was something to be admired! In 2017, Pastor Scott was diagnosed with ALS and given a life expectancy of two to five years, but he never lost his faith! While battling this disease, he still served in ministry preaching, teaching, singing and encouraging others; he never lost his faith! In pain, with limited mobility, he never lost his faith! In his last days, he was still singing songs of worship with his daughters reminding them that he was “Sold Out!” And after eight years of his FAITH-walk, he proved to all of us that God is still a miracle worker; we will remember him saying, “Have Faith in God.”
Pastor Scott was preceded in death by his father David Scott Sr, his father-in-law Joseph Self, mother-in-law Dollie Self, and his brothers-in-law: Elwood, George and Garfield.
Leaving behind a lasting legacy of faith, joy and love, his memory will be cherished by his wife Fay; children: Kenneth Jr (Chizorom), Kevin (Danielle), Kia (Chris);grandchildren: Kaylynn, Kevin, Kylie, Charlee, Carlee, Kenslee, bonus grandchildren Zion and Ethan; mother:Mavoureen; brother: David; sisters-in-law: Betty, Joanne, Anna Mae, Otelia (Richard), Mamie (Roger); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, church family, and fellow ambassadors for Christ.
