John Emory McLeod was born in Philadelphia, PA, to the late Eula Lee and Henry Alton McLeod on July 28, 1966. On August 14, 2025, John peacefully departed this life.
John welcomed God into his heart as a young adult. His unwavering faith and steadfast walk with Christ were evident throughout his life. He was a devoted member of Grace Temple Baptist Church, where he served faithfully on the Usher Board and contributed his time to the Food Bank Ministry.
John attended Lawnside Public School and graduated from Camden County Technical and Vocational School with a concentration in masonry in 1984. He worked in masonry for several years before transitioning to West Jersey Hospital. Ultimately, he found his professional home at PATCO, where he proudly served for 27 years until his untimely passing. With skill and ingenuity, John could fix any ticket machine or turnstile from Lindenwold to the 16th Street corridor. He took great pride in his work and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Known as the life of the party, John always had a joke ready and loved sharing laughter with others. His favorite pastimes included admiring classic cars and spending time with the South Jersey Street Legends. From a young age, John had a need for speed—always eager to ride his motorcycle or dirt bike as the weather allowed. When not out riding, he enjoyed watching television, listening to old-school jams, and indulging in seafood. John was well-known for dropping by in one of his cars to check in on friends and family.
John will be deeply missed by his children and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry A. McLeod Sr. and Eula Lee; brothers Henry A. McLeod Jr. and Richard S. McLeod.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his son Devon Jones; daughters Arielle McLeod, Ayanna Wright, and Zora Davis; grandchildren Serenity Hall and Aiyaan Wright; sisters Tina McLeod and Evelyn McLeod; brother Aurthur McLeod; nieces Yasmeen McLeod, Aspen Burell, Jade Burell, Esterlee McLeod, Jordine McLeod, Trinity McLeod; nephews Lorenzo McLeod, Devon Harris, Kenneth Wright, Jahim McLeod; A special great-niece Layla McLeod, and a host of other great nieces and nephews; life partner Carla Davis; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
John will always be remembered for his radiant smile, infectious laughter, generous heart, free spirit, and enduring love for family and friends.
