Reverend Irvin Coleman, son of the late Norman Coleman and Alease (Jones) Coleman, was born on February 4, 1942, in Ashland, Virginia. He peacefully entered eternal rest on Saturday, June 28, 2025.

Reverend Coleman received his early education through the public school system of Ashland, Virginia. With a strong sense of calling, he went on to attend Virginia Seminary to pursue his degree in Theology and later earned a Master’s degree from Temple University.

In June of 1969, he married Carolyn (Hicks) Coleman, and together they moved to New Jersey, where Reverend Coleman devoted his life to both ministry and public service. He served the City of Philadelphia as a dedicated Probation and Parole Officer for 33 years, committed to the rehabilitation and betterment of others.

A true shepherd at heart, Reverend Coleman was called to pastor First Baptist Church of Glassboro, where he faithfully led the congregation for 47 years until his retirement in 2020. He was a man of great compassion who found joy in fellowshipping with others and never hesitated to offer help to those in need.

Reverend Coleman leaves to cherish his memory his beloved son, Vincent Coleman; daughter-in-law, Amber Coleman; two precious grandchildren, Danasia Coleman and Vincent J. Coleman II; one brother, Eugene Coleman (Deborah); two sisters, Susie Woodard (Rev. Dennis) and Pastor Kate Mason (Bishop Marvin); his dear friend Loretta Fletcher; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, church family, and friends.
