My heartfelt condolences to Josey, Kevin, Kathy and Michelle. Sending hugs and kisses, love you guys!
I have heard you answer to many names over the years, but I think my favorite one is "Gentle Giant", that name is most befitting of who you are. A man a few words, a smile that was unforgettable oooh and I can't forget that sense of humor. Our last conversation was a video call and you complimented me but told my mom she wasn't quite as good, lol. As a little girl, I can remember the big, tall guy with the "sweet ride" coming down south to spend time with me, my mom and grandma. Thank you for taking the time to give me experiences I would not have had. Thank you for taking me on vacation with you and Barbara, thank you for throwing me in the pool, I still don't like pools, lol.
Gentle Giant, Uncle/Cousin Joseph, you have fought a good fight, take your rest and know that we love you and you will be missed. Please kiss grandma Lula for me and tell Aunt Carrie, my gray hairs are coming in pretty strong, but I refuse to color ... I secretly want my hair to look like hers one day.
Shanna

My sincere condolences to my cousins. I remember when we were younger coming over to Aunt Barbara and Uncle Toney’s house for family gatherings. We always had a blast. Your dad had such a warm and gentle soul. To my family, as Luke 6:21 states, you will weep now but smile later as you think of all of the memories you have of uncle Toney. Even though we would like to hold on to our love ones tight, we know that God knew best and he told his child, “it’s time for you to take your rest. Job well done!!” I love you all ❤️❤️
Your cousin,
Keisha Montgomery Whittaker

To my cousins Josephine, Kevin, Kathy, and Michele, please accept my deepest sympathies with you and your family in your dad's passing. He was a wonderful man and a beautiful soul. It was a pleasure to get to know uncle Toney more recently. Wonderful, sweet conversations with my uncle will have to be cherished. I pray God grants you grace in this difficult time of bereavement as well as strength and comfort. Also, may the peace of God that passeth all understanding guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. My thoughts and prayers are with you in your time of grief. What a lovely person Uncle Toney was, who will be deeply missed.
Lovingly submitted,

One of my fondest memory of Dad is waiting for him to come home from work. As children we would hear the key in the door and run to the opening of the stairs. Dad would greet us with a pinch on each of our noses then pick us up with the biggest hug. We knew we were always loved beyond measure. We miss you Dad, God has given you peace that surpasses all understanding. You've earned your rest.
Love your chidren

Our deepest condolences to the Toney family in the loss of our "Pa" Toney. We're blessed to have known, shared enlightening conversations in living rooms, on porches, and in backyards for 40 years with this God-fearing man. His faith, dedication, hardworking spirit, and of course his smile will remain in our hearts forever. "Weeping may tarry for a night, but joy comes in the morning." Psalm 30:5
