Obituary of Alma Jackson

Please share a memory of Alma to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Alma Jackson (nee Boyd) has departed this beautiful life at Eastern Pines Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Atlantic City, New Jersey on Wednesday, July 29, 2020. She was born April 22, 1936 in Atlantic City to Benjamin Boyd and Carrie Smith Boyd. At an early age, Alma knew she wanted to make a difference in people's lives, whether it was big or small. After attending Atlantic City High School, from which she graduated in 1955, she enlisted into the Army as a technician in the Cardiology Department of her platoon. She was honorably discharged and later in her life she went to work as a recruiter for Bally's Casino and Hotel, and as a social worker for the Uptown Center. During her work, she was considered a great confidant because she would look out for "the underdog." As for her religious views, Alma was a dedicated christian. She joined Second Baptist Church under the pastorate of Reverend John Stanford. She served on many boards, such as Usher Board No. 2, and sang on the Junior Choir as an alto. She had been married to Robert S. Jackson. Alma was predeceased by her parents, Benjamin Boyd and Carrie Boyd Minnick; and her sisters, Marie Boyd Evans, Winifred Boyd, Sarah Boyd and Martha Falls. She is survived by daughter, Renee Edith Boyd; and her granddaughter, Arabia Alma Crawford, her biological family. She also leaves cherished memories with the Mackeys and the Falls, and her extended family, the Robinson and Powell Families. She was beloved by many of her friends, Theresa Baker and Jada Brown, who she considered her second daughter and granddaughter. Also, she is remembered by her longtime friends, Marie Bateman and Eleanor Mason.
