Obituary of Cynthia Denise Burney

Please share a memory of Cynthia to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Cynthia Burney was born on October 9, 1948 in Trenton, NJ.  Cynthia is predeceased by her parents Fred and Selma Burney and brother, Ernest Burney.  Cynthia was educated in the Hamilton Township School System and furthered her education at Mercer County Community College. Cynthia later met and married Ellison Cason, Sr. and as a result of their union, they were blessed with two children, Ellison Cason, Jr and Stephaney Cason.

Cynthia started her professional career working as a switchboard operator in Trenton for Bell telephone, then transitioned to a career as secretary with NJ Dept. of Transportation, before taking on the role of homemaker.  She spent time as a resident in Trenton, Ewing and Burlington Township before settling in Lindenwold Twp. in her golden years to be in close proximity to her children.

Cynthia was very creative and had numerous favorite pastimes that held her interest.  She loved to read and never hesitated to share her latest literary interest with her family and friends. Cynthia valued education and conveyed that to her children the importance of continued education and learning.  She also loved to write, and kept journals of her thoughts, feelings, and experiences and continued to do so up until her final call.

Cynthia was an artist who loved to paint pictures depicting scenery, family life, and culture.  She also enjoyed sewing and bedazzling her shirts and creating clothes for her family as well as for herself.  Cynthia had a passion for music, and never hesitated to dance to the rhythm. She was a spiritual person who encouraged her children to read the bible, and to have faith.

Cynthia was proud of her family and relished spending time with them and sharing her passions with her children and grandchildren.  Cynthia was devoted to her family and would give you the shirt off her back.  She was not into worldly possessions and worked to make do with what she had.  Her family’s love was her wealth!

Cynthia leaves behind to cherish her memories two devoted children, daughter, Stephaney Cason, of Collingswood, NJ, Ellison Cason, Jr. (April) of Berlin, NJ.
