Obituary of Jean B Watson

Please share a memory of Jean to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Jean B. Watson was born in Savannah, GA and later moved to New York City as a teenager. From a young girl her passion in life was to become a nurse with a burning desire to take care of the very young and very old. She started her nursing career at Bergen Pines Academy in northern New Jersey. After graduating, she found work at Barnett Hospital in Paterson, New Jersey. Jean met her husband at a South Jersey barbeque event. They married and the rest is history. Her career spanned 40 years of dedicated service in the South Jersey and Philadelphia. Some of her labors included Our Lady of Lourdes in Camden, NJ, St. Christopher’s and Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Jean returned to school and earned a degree in Geriatric Care of the Elderly. As she aged, she turned to nursing homes; working for a vast number of companies, such as Meridian and Greenbrier of Voorhees, Care Inn of Marlton, Pinewood Acres of Maple Shade, NJ and finally retiring at age 62 from Meadowview Nursing Home located in Monroe Township, NJ. Jean resided at Holiday City in Williamstown, NJ after her retirement. Jean was a compassionate person, hard worker, never complaining and totally committed to saving the very old and very young. Jean’s rallying call to the young was perseverance, commitment, stick-to-it-tive-ness, follow your dreams-never give up. To the old she would say, “Are you Ok? I am here for you, because I care about you.” When asked why she was so driven, committed and work so hard – she would respond, “someone has to do it, why not me?” Jean loved music and her favorite musical artist was Marvin Gaye. She had an amazing voice. Singing in the shower, her octaves rivaled those of Whitney Houston. However her bashfulness gave few to ever hear her beautiful voice. Finally lamenting, I just don’t know “What’s Going On.”
