Obituary of Gwendolyn Tennant

Gwendolyn Tennant, "Gwen", age sixty-eight of Atlantic City, was born January 8, 1947, in Elwood, New Jersey, to the late George Thomas Tennant and Tommie Callahan Tennant. She departed this life and went home to be with the Lord on Monday, November 9, 2015 at the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center-Mainland Campus, in Pomona, New Jersey, surrounded by her loving family. Gwen received the Lord in 2002 and He became her personal Savior. Gwen was a member of New Redeemed Temple Church Of God In Christ, under the leadership of Elder Thomas Michael, until she became incapacitated. She served on the Hospitality Committee in her local church, The New Atlantic District of the Church of God In Christ, and The New Jersey 1st Jurisdiction of the Church of God In Christ with Mother Minnie Cole. Gwen was one of the best hospitality members in the state. Gwen was an employee of the South Jersey Gas Company for 38 years, where she started as a Purchasing Clerk and then was promoted to a Purchasing Assistant. She attended Atlantic Community College and Stockton State College, where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Management in 1988. Gwen was a friend to all in her communities. She was family centered and loved to share in giving to the children around her. Surviving are her sisters and brothers, Delores Blocker, Bernard Tennant (Margie), Helen Tennant, Odessa Tennant-Roberts (Gene), Raymond Tennant, and Catherine Lyons; her special niece, whom she loved as a daughter, Michele Tennant; a lifelong special friend, Gail Epps; her great great niece and last caretaker, Hadiah Hamilton; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, and other relatives and friends.
