Obituary of Steven Glenn Davis, Sr.

Steven Glenn Davis, Sr., was born May 18, 1955, in Atlantic City, New Jersey to Fred Davis and Amy Winston Davis. He departed this life on June 28, 2015, in the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Division, after a lengthy illness. Steve was a lifelong area resident, and attended the Atlantic City public schools. He was a graduate of Atlantic City High School, Class of 1973. After graduation, he joined and served with the United States Marine Corps. Employed by New Jersey Transit as a bus driver in the late 1970’s, he was later employed as a bus driver with Academy Bus Company in Pomona, New Jersey. He was last employed with Seashore Asphalt in Woodbine, New Jersey. Steve was a fun loving guy who loved to joke and laugh. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, and he was an avid Chess player. He was predeceased by his parents, Fred William Davis and Amy Winston Davis; his brother, Vernon Davis; and his sisters, Cynthia Gaskins and Lorraine Davis. He leaves to cherish fond memories: his children, Bianca Davis, Shakemia Mays (Mike) of Egg Harbor Township, Steven Davis, Jr. (Roselin Poteat) of Pleasantville, Alexis Bridgers (Marcus), Isaiah Davis and Aliyah Davis, all of Atlantic City; two brothers, James Alston of Detroit, Michigan, and Fred Davis, Jr. of Atlantic City; four sisters, Deborah Banton (Dennis), Janet Davis, Vernell Davis and Sonya Davis, all of Atlantic City; six grandchildren, Michael Mays, Jr, Samony Mays, Markus Mays, Douglas Showers, Jr., Sanai Mays and Ezra Bridgers; his companion, Deborah Betancourt of Atlantic City; and a host of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and dear friends.
