Obituary of Ann Delores Bunch

On Sunday, June 21, 2015, at her home in Atlantic City, New Jersey, our beloved Ann Delores Hughes Bunch was called home to be with the Lord. The daughter of Curtis Walter and Elaine Bethel-Walter, “Dee”, as she was called, was born in Danville, Virginia, on August 17, 1943. She grew up in the Almagro section of Danville. At a young age, Dee dedicated her life to Christ and joined Shiloh Baptist Church where she attended regularly and participated in many youth activities. Dee was educated in the Danville Public School System and graduated from John Mercer Langston High School. Upon completing high school, she moved to Atlantic City and enrolled in the Atlantic City Business School. After obtaining her business certification, Dee began her vocational career at Atlantic City Medical Center. It was during her employment at Atlantic City Hospital that Dee met William Bunch. A courtship began. Love blossomed and they were married on August 16, 1969. Shortly after their marriage, the couple purchased and moved into the home where they shared a loving and devoted life together for forty-five years. Dee loved to decorate her home with the colors blue, family pictures and lots of flowers and plants. She also enjoyed cooking as visitors were always offered a meal. Along with her love of decorating, Dee loved participating in civic, social and fraternal organizations. She had served with Atlantic Chapter No. 3, Order of Eastern Star (Past Matron), Azure Court #14, Daughters of Isis (Past Commandress), and Arbor Vitae Assembly No. 16, The Order of the Golden Circle, (Past Loyal Lady Ruler), all Prince Hall Affiliations. Dee was predeceased by her father, Curtis Walton and her sister, Gertrude Walton-Rodgers. Delores is also predeceased by her father-in-law, John Bunch; two sisters-in-law, Anna Bunch (A.B.) and Catherine Bunch; one brother-in-law, Leroy “Boo-ga-lou” Bunch; one stepbrother-in-law, James Bush; and one stepsister-in-law, Glenoia Bush. Dee leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband, William H. of Atlantic City; her mother, Elaine Bethel-Walton of Danville, Virginia; one son, Keith Hughes of Atlantic City; one special granddaughter, Ashley Hughes of Charlotte, North Carolina; three sisters, Rosa Walton-McCall (Arthur) of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Florence Linton (Frank) of Winston Salem, North Carolina, and Arthur Mae Webb (Joseph) of Forest, Virginia; mother-in-law, Channie B. Heckstall (Bunch) Bush of Windsor, North Carolina; two brothers-in-law, Thomas Bunch, Sr. of Pleasantille, New Jersey, and Noah Bunch (Shirley) of Glen Burnie, Maryland; one sister-in-law, Lora Bunch of Mays Landing, New Jersey; one stepbrother-in-law, Archie Bush, Jr. of Rocky Mount, North Carolina; and two stepsisters-in-law, Frances Bush Gray and Maggie P. Bush of Lewiston, North Carolina; she leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and loving relatives. She also leaves the admiration of a host of friends, former colleagues and auxiliary associates who grieve her passing.
