REVEREND LUCILLE WAKEFIELD-MOORE was born on April 30, 1938 in Atlanta, GA to the late Willie Mae McKenzie and Robert McKenzie. Of this union was born two children, Rev. Lucille as the oldest and her brother, Joseph McKenzie. Rev. Lucille attended grade school and graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in Atlanta, GA. She attended and completed course work/ training and became certified as a Special Police Officer. Later she gained employment at the Freehold Racetrack in Freehold, New Jersey as a security officer. She was later employed by the Camden County Board of Social Services in Camden, New Jersey. Her first job was a security officer. She later transferred to the Medical Transportation Department eventually retiring as a Clerk 2 in January 2013. One of the things that she took pride in was her position as a Shop Steward for CWA from 2006-2013. Councilwoman Lucille Wakefield-Moore was appointed to fill the unexpired term for the Council seat under the direction of Mayor Mary Ann Wardlow (Lawnside). She was elected in November 2014 and took the oath of Office from U.S. Congressman Donald Norcross. Councilwoman Lucille Wakefield -Moore was a member of the following Boards and Organizations: - Democratic Committeewoman for the Borough of Lawnside - Member of the Camden County Democratic Committee - Member of the Order of Eastern Stars (OES – Prince Hall Affiliated) - Camden County Democratic Women’s Federation - Member of the ELKS Lodge - Board of Directors, Camden County Council on Economic Opportunity Inc. - Mayor Redd’s (City of Camden) Congress of Communities - Borough of Lawnside’s Minister’s Roundtable Reverend Lucille Wakefield-Moore began a new chapter of her life being called by God to ministry. Accepting the call, she began ministry under the tutelage of Pastor Lawrence E. Forman at Mt. Pisgah A.M.E. Church, Lawnside, NJ. After completion of vigorous training/studying at the A.M.E. Ministerial Institute, she was ordained Local Deacon and subsequently, ordained Local Elder and was presently serving as Supply Pastor at Bethel A.M.E. Church in Camden, NJ. Previously, she served as Supply Pastor at Bethel A.M.E. in Cookstown, NJ; Preacher at Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church in Riverton, NJ; President of the Ministry of Evangelism of the Camden-Trenton District; and, served in ministry under the tutelage of Pastor Linda Ellerbe at Mt. Pisgah A.M.E. Church, Lawnside, NJ. After a short illness, Reverend Lucille Wakefield-Moore departed this life on April 30, 2015 and entered into the place of eternal life in heaven. She was preceded in death by her husband her, Vernon Moore; Son, Jerome Felton and daughter, Portia Felton. Reverend Lucille Wakefield-Moore leaves to cherish her memory; W.T. Felton (Shirley) of Bryon, GA; Daughters, April Felton of Westampton, NJ and Bonita Felton of Atlanta, GA. and Son, Tyrone Wakefield of Lawnside, NJ; Vernon Moore, Jr., (Dorothea); Kevin Moore (Karen); Kenney Moore, Georgette Moore (Phillip) all of New Jersey; Brother, Joseph McKenzie (Phyllis) of Atlanta, GA; Grandchildren, Edward D. Parrish of Lawnside, NJ and Tyla Wakefield of Mt. Laurel, NJ, and a host of relatives and friends.
