Please share a memory of Stacey to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Stacey Renee Smith was born August 23, 1963 to Samuel Davis and Bobbie Jean Davis of Somerdale NJ. She was called by the Lord on April 15 2015 at Kennedy Hospital in Stratford NJ. Born in Philadelphia, Pa. Stacey spent her early years on Osage Ave then the family moved to Somerdale NJ in 1968. She attended Park Elementary School, Somerdale No. 1 and graduated from Sterling High School in 1980. During her attendance at Sterling High School she participated in the Sterling High School Marching Band as part of the flute ensemble. After graduation she attended Camden County College and received her Associates of Arts degree in Secretarial Studies in 1983. Shortly afterwards she was hired by the New Jersey Assemblyman office as a secretary until she moved forward with a 15 year career at the Bellmawr Post Office as a mail processing clerk in Bellmawr New Jersey. Stacey wed Michael Smith at Mount Olive Baptist church in July 22, 1988. Fulfilling her dreams to travel she visited New Orleans, Hawaii and Disney World until the birth of her son Anthony T. Smith in May of 1990. The young families moved into their dream townhouse complete with a pool and a dog in a quiet neighborhood located in Sicklerville NJ where the Davis family enjoyed cook-outs, Christmas gatherings and family dinners. After a few years Stacey and Anthony moved into Cherry Wood apartments located in Blackwood NJ where they enjoyed their pets and once again traveled to Disney World with family members for a most memorable trip. Soon Stacey and Anthony would take a road trip to South Carolina with dreams of moving south in their near future. In 2004 Stacey applied with the Post Office to move to Atlanta for a position and was accepted. Due to medical complications Stacey retired from the Post Office and moved back with her parents in Somerdale to battle diabetes and other complications. Everyone who knew Stacey knew her love for her son and her family. She was always wearing a smile and her personality showed through her kindness and simple way of life. Always a smile on her face and uplifting, positive outlook on life is what her friends and family will always remember, a bright light that will always shine in all of us. Stacey is survived by her loving son Anthony Smith, 2 sisters Gail Edison, and Ife Azikiwe "Beverly Davis"; 2 nephews, Michael Davis and Akil Azikiwe; 3 great nephews, Azlan Cobb, Rahmyynte Boyce, Jalen Davis, 1 great niece Amani Azikiwe and a host of family and friends.
