Obituary of Dorothy M. Roberts

Please share a memory of Dorothy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Dorothy Marie Roberts was called from labor to reward by her Heavenly Father on February 4, 2015. She was born to the late Viola and Herbert Austin, Sr. Dorothy was educated in the Palmyra Public Schools and graduated from Palmyra High School. Dorothy, affectionately known as “Dot” or “Miss Dot”, was a woman of strong faith whose primary focus was her family. The physical and spiritual success of her children was paramount. She was a loving, kind, tenacious, sweet woman. In addition to reading and studying the Bible she enjoyed sewing some of her own clothing, crocheting, putting together jig-saw puzzles and working on her word games and puzzle books, taking and collecting photographs of family and friends, shopping flea markets and yard sales, and watching ‘The Price is Right’ and ‘Jeopardy’. Dot was baptized as a young person into her Christian faith at Evergreen Baptist Church. Although she was always active in church all, later in her adult life she discovered a new found joy and a deeper understanding of Christ as her personal Lord and Savior and all He had done for her and recommitted her life with a new found enthusiasm. She worked diligently in the vineyard serving the Lord in many ministries at Evergreen Baptist Church. She served as a deaconess, adult Sunday School teacher, singing with the Inspirational Chorus, teaching new converts and as a Sheepfold leader. Dorothy was excited and anxious to share her Christian faith and was president of the Crusaders for Christ, a door-to-door witnessing ministry. She had a special place in her heart for new converts and became a spiritual mother to many. She and her husband Daniel would host Bible studies and prayer meetings in their home to support the growth of new converts. Dot worked as a seamstress and was employed at Century Mills in Riverside, NJ. She also worked at Kushners Drapes & Upholstery in Palmyra, NJ. She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years Daniel C. Roberts and her son Stanley Scott. She leaves to mourn her passing her loving children, daughter, Kylthia and son, Shawn; sister, Margaret, brother Herbert, Jr. (Lorraine); sister-in-law, Evelyn Bennett; her adopted daughter/friend, Roberta Haskins, and a host of nieces, nephews, spiritual children and friends.
