Obituary of Eldridge James Long

Please share a memory of Eldridge to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Eldridge James “Keo” Long was born on June 27, 1942 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to the late Dorothy and Eldridge James “Buddy” Long. He departed his life on Saturday, December 13, 2014. He was educated in the Philadelphia school district. He had worked in his father’s soda business, “Days Beverages” in his early years. He dabbled in the refrigeration business with his uncle Hank and also was involved in construction for quite a few years and then retired from the Borough of Chesilhurst. The family moved to Erial, NJ in the early 60’s. But he eventually moved back to Philly, where he met a beautiful woman named Doris Moody, and had five children. Jersey was just too country for him. He wanted to be in the “know”, where stuff was happening. He just wanted to have fun, talk junk to everyone, using his favorite phrases, “you gonna mind me” and “up your giggy” He was preceded in death by his parents, Dorothy and Eldridge “Buddy” Long; his sister, Beverly Burch and his brother, Arnold “Buffalo” Long. “Keo” leaves to cherish his memory his children, Genia (Greg), Lisa, Sonia, Yvette (Kelly), Darnell, Eldridge James and Jerald (Marie); six grandchildren, Candise, Edward, Greg Jr., Kenneth, Mikeishia and Rudell; two great grandchildren, Zyair and Isabella. He also leaves to cherish his memory his siblings, Dorothy Footman (Russell), Marcus Long (Rosetta), Helyn Long and Lyndon Long and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
