Obituary of Nannie B Jefferson

Nannie B. Jefferson, daughter of the late John Henry and Nannie Lizzie Butler, was born in Grandville, NC on December 7, 1937. At an early age, she moved with her family to Cinnaminson, NJ where she graduated from the Palmyra School System. Lovingly called “Nan”, she furthered her education at Glassboro State College where she obtained a Bachelor’s of Arts Degree. Nan worked for the board of education from 1970 until she retired in 2004. During her tenure, she received many outstanding employee awards. She was a member of the AKA Silver Star Sorority Theta Pi Omega Chapter, Red Hatters and The Golden Girls. Deaconess Nannie “Nan” Jefferson was baptized at an early age and attended the First Baptist Church in Delair, NJ. In 2004 she united with the Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Camden, NJ under the leadership of Reverend J.C. Jones. She was a faithful member of the Sunday School, teacher of the sewing ministry, Bible Study student, Sunday Nursing Home outreach and the Angel Tree Prison ministry. Deaconess Jefferson was a member of the Woman Auxiliary of the Bethany Baptist Association and the Modes S. Walker Missionaries of Camden County. Nan loved to travel, sew, cook and spend time with her grandchildren, family and friends. Nannie was preceded in death by her parents, John Henry and Lizzie Butler; five brothers, David, James, Charles, George and Benjamin Butler and three sisters Adel, Betty and Daisy Ann. Nannie leaves to mourn her loss, her husband Thomas E. Jefferson, Sr.; one daughter, Lauwanne Caldwell; four sons, Stanley (Debbie) Winrow, Lorenzo Winrow, Thomas (Lottie) Jefferson, Jr. and Byron Jefferson; one sister, Corrine Butler; one brother, Henry (Sheila) Butler; one aunt, Ester Winston; fifteen grandchildren and twenty four great-grandchildren. She is also survived by three sisters-in-law, Dora Butler, Joanne Butler and Carol Abbott; one brother-in-law, Edward Jefferson and a host of loving family and friends.
