Please share a memory of Sundra to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Sundra L. Polk was born June 21, 1935 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the oldest child of the late Fleming and Ethel Jackson. Sundra grew up in Philadelphia where she attended the public school system. She graduated from Simon Gratz High School and went on to pursue a career as a Home Health Aide for over 25 years. She met and married Robert F. Polk and made a life together in Ambler, Pennsylvania for many years. Sundra and Robert moved from their home in Ambler to Sicklerville, New Jersey. They lived there happily for over 20 years. Sundra loved the Native American community as she was part Sioux-Powhatan. She was an active member of the Native American Culture Center. She traveled up and down the east coast visiting different Native American communities and she participated in many "pow-wows". Once she even traveled by camper to South Dakota to learn more about her Native American heritage. Her other passion was taking care of dogs. She loved poodles and you could always find a poodle in her home. Her current dog is a Bichon Frise named Skipper. She was a devoted Christian woman who attended both Catholic and Baptist churches throughout her life. Even when her health was failing and she could not attend service, she would have communion in her home. Sundra is survived by her brother, Andrew Jackson, her aunt Christina Jackson; niece and nephew, Stacey Jackson and Shawn Jackson; cousins, Barbara Brereton, Benjamin Jackson, Jr. and Cynthia Crews and many other relatives and friends. Sundra was a loving wife, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. She will sorely be missed.
