She then began opening her home to foster children in need of some loving care. Mother Chatman joined Greater Mt. Carmel Church of God in Church in 1990 under the care of Pastor Elijah A. Reid. She left for a brief while then returned to the church she so loved under the care of Pastor Mark K. Reid. She loved singing in the choir, working in the Women’s Ministry and being on the Deaconess team. Her true passion was sitting under the Word of God and learning about Jesus.
