Obituary of Warren T. Smith

Very quietly and peacefully on Monday, August 18, 2014 Almighty God, in his infinite wisdom, mercy and grace, took Warren Thomas Smith into his care after a lengthy battle with cancer. Warren Thomas Smith was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA. He was the son of the late Rozetta Coates. Upon her passing he was nurtured maternally by his loving grandparents Thomas & Sylvia Coates (predeceased) and his Aunt Ruth Coates (predeceased). Warren graduated from Overbrook H.S. in 1961 where he excelled in track & field. He attended Bloomsburg University for two years. After college he was drafted into the U.S. Army from June 1961 – June 1964, receiving honorable discharge with rank of E/4 (Corporal). Warren’s first union of marriage to Dorothy Smith produced two loving daughters – Dare & Deniene. His second union of marriage to Belinda Smith produced a loving son – Warren Jr. Warren was employed at the Winslow Police Dept. with the rank of Sergeant, then at DRPA/PATCO until he had to medically retire due to illness in 1995. Warren accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord & Savior on March 12, 2000 at St. Paul United Methodist Church whom he always cherished as his church home and family. Warren was an exempted Masonic member of the Light of Elmwood Lodge in Philadelphia, PA; Member of American Legion, Post 509, in Westampton NJ; Avid bowler and beloved coach; Very passionate Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies fan; Fishing enthusiast. Leaving to cherish his memory is his loving wife Belinda Smith; His three children Dare L. Johnson (son-in-law Arnold Johnson), Deniene Y. Smith, and Warren T. Smith Jr.; One precious granddaughter Nina-Skye Johnson; One cousin/sister Brenda Sougué; Devoted in-laws Manny & Bunny Knox; A host of adoring family and friends.
