Obituary of Dorothy Williford

Dorothy Williford was born to the late Oliver and Lula Hitchcock in Colbert, Madison County, Georgia; one of eleven children. She was raised and educated in Colbert, Georgia. At an early age, Dorothy accepted the Lord and was Baptized at Wagner Grove Baptist Church, Colbert, Georgia. Dorothy met and married the love of her life, Herbert Williford and from that union, ten children were born. She later moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania with her husband and children and began to work in the text tile industry to help support her family. She was skillful with her hands, loving to cook and plant flowers and work her garden. She was the lady bug of her flowers and every one admired the beauty of her garden. She looked forward to family gatherings and loved to be surrounded by her family. Dorothy attended and made sure that her family attended The Garden of Prayer Church, under the late Mother Dabney. Later, she moved her membership to Delaware Evangelist Church where she rededicated her life back to the Lord, under the late Pastor Benjamin Smith. For many years, the latter years of her life, she began to attend Evangelist Temple under the leadership of Pastor Glenn Dawson until her untimely departure. She was preceded in death by her husband of thirty-eight years of marriage, Herbert Williford and her children, Peggy Williford, Dorceen Haynes, Melinda Brice and Nathaniel Williford. She leaves to mourn her children, Ethelene Gilchrist, Cleo Williford (Joyce), Angela Covington (James), Daniel Williford, Jeffery Williford (Yolanda) and Sandra Williford; 32 grandchildren; 76 great-grandchildren; 48 great great-grandchildren and many, many more spiritual adopted children that she loved dearly. Mother Williford was a mother of Zion.
